Move-in inspection checklist
Room-by-room condition checklist. Fill it in on day one, photograph everything, and your deposit is defensible.
Prints clean black-on-white on letter paper — the site colors are stripped automatically. Choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog to keep a digital copy.

Note the condition of every item — “good,” or exactly what's wrong (“3-inch scratch, left of window”). Take a date-stamped photo of every problem and write the photo number in the last column. Email the photos to yourself and the landlord the same day, and keep a signed copy of this sheet.
